Plumbers
Pretoria North
Plumbers, Pretoria North: eight years of plumbing work in these streets, the call-out fee in rand before anyone drives out, and the cause found before a part is sold.
Request a call-out
Twelve services for the north side of the Magaliesberg
Each one has its own page on why it goes wrong in Pretoria North, and what the visit involves.
Hot water
No hot water, a tripping breaker or a dripping overflow: the part is tested before a new geyser is mentioned.
New and replacement electric geysers, fitted to SANS 10254 with the valves, drip tray and certificate your insurer asks for.
Instant gas water heaters with the cylinders placed to SANS 10087-1 and a Certificate of Conformity from an SAQCC Gas installer.
Solar water heating fitted to its own standard, with the certificate it still needs and a backup for cold, cloudy weeks.
Leaks and pressure
A high water bill or a damp patch: the meter is read first, then the leak is found with as little breaking as possible.
A level that keeps falling: a bucket test against evaporation first, then the fittings, pipes and shell tested in turn.
Weak showers, banging pipes or valves that keep failing: the pressure is measured before a pump, valve or tank is sold.
Drains
Slow sinks, toilets that back up or an overflowing gully: cleared, and the cause found so it does not come straight back.
A camera run through the drain to show the root, crack or collapse, and exactly where it is, before anything is dug up.
Emergencies, businesses and prices
Water through the ceiling, a split pipe or sewage backing up: turn the water off, then send the request.
Workshops, dealerships, shops and kitchens: grease traps, storage, washrooms and fire water, planned around trading hours.
What call-outs, labour and common jobs cost on published price guides, and how a fair bill is built.
Job cardNoord Plumbing, Pretoria North
Call-out fee
A number in rand, given when the plumber phones you back, with what it covers. Turn the repair down and that is all you pay.
The price
Agreed before work starts. If a wall, ceiling or floor reveals more, work stops, you get photos and a new price, and nothing goes on without your yes.
Arrival
A time window, not "sometime today". If it is going to slip, you get a call before it closes.
Repair or replace
Parts are tested first. Every part on the quote has its reason next to it, and a new geyser is quoted only once you have seen why the old one cannot be saved.
Paperwork
An itemised invoice (labour, each part and its price), before and after photos, and the PIRB Certificate of Compliance where the law or your insurer needs one.
Ask for this card on the day. If a line is missing, the job is not finished.
The terms are written down before the spanner comes out
Eight years of plumbing in Pretoria North, and five lines on every job card that keep a bill from turning into an argument.
A plumbing bill goes wrong in five places: a call-out fee you were never told, a price that grows once the wall is open, a whole geyser where a thermostat would do, "on the way" that turns into four hours, and a hole left in the floor.
None of those is about skill. They are about what was agreed, and when, so each one is settled in writing before work starts.
From the form to a fixed fault in four steps
The same order on every job, so nothing is sold before it is understood.
Send the request
Name, number, suburb and what is happening. No phone queue: the request goes straight to the plumber.
Agree the visit
A call back to talk through the job and agree a time window. Nobody drives out until you have said yes.
Find the cause
Tested before anything is replaced: the meter, a pressure gauge, the thermostat, a camera, whatever the fault needs.
Prove the fix
The meter stands still, the water runs hot, the drain runs clear. Then the invoice, the photos and any certificate.
What Pretoria North does to its plumbing
Four local conditions worth knowing about, each from a public source you can check.
24 hWonderboom Reservoir shutdown in July 2026, one of several northern supply cuts that year
The water arrives through systems that get shut down
Pretoria North, Florauna, Akasia and Rosslyn hang off Rand Water's Palmiet system; Montana, Magalieskruin and Sinoville off Mapleton. In 2026 both were shut for maintenance, and the Wonderboom Reservoir that feeds Pretoria North was off for 24 hours in July. Pipes refill with air when the water returns, which is when weak joints let go. What to do in a plumbing emergency.

36 hwithout power in Pretoria North after the Van Riebeeck substation failed in March 2026
The power is the City's, and its substations trip
Eskom load shedding stopped in May 2025, but Pretoria North runs off City of Tshwane substations, and they still fail. Geysers take the jolt when the power returns, which is why thermostats, elements and valves come first on geyser repairs.

39.1%of Tshwane's water lost before it was billed in 2024/25
Old mains and high pressure in the street
The City names ageing pipes and high pressure in isolated areas among the causes, and in 2025 Sinoville still had about 44,700 m of asbestos-cement main to replace. The pressure that bursts a main also works on the valves in your house: see water pressure repairs.

20%linear shrinkage of the black clay tested at Onderstepoort, next to Pretoria North
Clay ground that moves with the seasons
North of the Magaliesberg the soils change to the black clays of the Bushveld side. Ground that swells in summer storms and shrinks in winter works at buried pipes and drains, which is what leak detection and drain camera work find.

Questions people ask before they send the form
The first three answer most of it.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Yes. It covers the trip and finding the fault, and you hear the amount before you agree to the visit. Turn the repair down and the call-out is all you pay.
Why is there no phone number on this website?
Every request comes in through the form, so it reaches the plumber with your suburb and the job already written down, and nothing is lost in a missed call. You are then called back on the number you leave.
Which suburbs do you cover?
Pretoria North and about thirty suburbs around it, from Annlin and Montana in the east to Akasia and Rosslyn in the west, and over the ridge to Wonderboom South. The full list, by direction, is at the foot of this page.
What happens after I send the form?
You get a call on the number you left to talk through the job and agree a visit. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
Do you work after hours and on weekends?
Say how soon you need someone in the form. Whether a plumber can come after hours, and any after-hours difference in the fee, is settled on the call back.
How do I check a plumber is registered?
Ask for the plumber's PIRB registration number on the day. PIRB has a public search where anyone can check a plumber by name or number, and only PIRB-licensed plumbers may issue a Certificate of Compliance.
Request a call-out
Tell us the job and leave a number, and the plumber calls you to talk it through.
Water where it should not be? Turn it off at the meter now. It is the cheapest part of any repair.
